What a week it has been! I write to you on this Friday evening after my first hectic week of teaching, new schedules for the kids, and a nasty 24-hour stomach flu (oui . . . already needed a substitute teacher.) My lazy days of summer are indeed just a memory. Here are some phrases to express my present state:
Je suis fatigué(e) = I'm tired
Je suis crevé(e) = I'm beat, wiped out
Je suis à bout de force = I'm beat, out of steam
J'ai sommeil = I'm sleepy
Au lit! = To bed!
Bonne nuit = Good night
Comment if you've got any more good French expressions for extreme fatigue.
I'll leave you with a classic French lullaby, Fais Dodo. Bonne nuit mes amis.

Diane, sorry to hear you've been sick! I guess the stomach flu bug travels long distances these days: so many people were sick w it this week here in Ottawa... and then my mom in Montréal... As always, I'm immune! Je touche du bois...
Although I don't like to do this... it's "à" bout de force... we also say "Je suis au bout de mes forces"... ce sont des synonymes!
Repose-toi bien en fin de semaine... ;-)
Oh please, Lyne, you are welcome anytime to correct me. I appreciate it and already updated the post :-) In my present state, I'm lucky to get English right. I'm off to bed.
You can also say "Je suis mort(e) de fatigue", and much more familiar, and usually used by teenagers: "Je suis cassé(e)".
Hope that you have a nice and restful weekend.
Merci, Isabelle!
Hi Diane... hopefully you are feeling a bit better... Thank God it's the weekend...
When you'll be back on your feet and read my last post, you'll learn about the news!
Right now I'm leaving a comment to see if I can log in with a different name... Later!
